TITLE: BCDO Executive Director

PURPOSE: To direct, coordinate and support the operations and activities of BCDO.

REPORTING TO: BCDO Board of Directors

KEY RELATIONS:

  • BCDO Board of Directors
  • Program coordinator,
  • Administrator and Finance Officer Somali partner organization, international partners and Somali Diaspora how support the organization

CONTRACT PERIOD: ONE YEAR CONTRACT AFTER AN APPOINTMENT.

BACKGROUND

Bursaalah Community Development Organization (BCDO) is local non-governmental, non- profit organization established in 1999 by a group of intellectual and educated members of society.

The main mission of the organization is to make difference in the lives of children in Somalia by providing them access to quality education, clean water and basic health services.” The strategic objectives are to bring up students with good behaviors, endeavors, and have social competence

Due to this, the Executive Director will play a key role in supporting the completion BCDO Program plan and will focus in particular upon developing the organizational capacities to achieve its objectives.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

➢ To develop BCDO work-plans and activity-budgets under the guidance and approval of the Board of Directors (BoD)

➢ To have an ability to manage the financial and other resources available to the work area within policy guidelines and budgetary expectations

➢ To manage the operations and activities of BCDO , including to develop frameworks for planning, monitoring and evaluating project implementation

➢ To lead the design and facilitation of activities in departments such as education , heath and water

➢ To have Strong leadership skills, experience in staff supervision, and the capacity to contribute to building a team focused on high quality customer services

➢ To have in line with the relevant representatives of Somali civil society, government authorities and the international community

➢ To oversee financial reports for BCDOs operations and activities, and monitor expenditure

➢ To report regularly to the Board of Directors about the progress made by the organization.

 

REQUIRED ESSENTIAL SKILLS, CONDITIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS

➢ Must be a graduate in master of business administration or master of education management

➢ Must have a strong background in Project Management

➢ Have an extensive and progressive experiences in managing community Projects management and organizations management.

➢ Must have strong administrative and people management skills

➢ Must have basic finance back ground.

➢ Strong professional writing skills (Somali and English),

➢ Well developed oral and written communication skills and an ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of staff and students

➢ Computer literacy, particular proficiency in using various Microsoft office applications, database programmes and the internet.

➢ Willingness to work long time of hours and enable to travel extensively within and outside Puntland.

➢ Must be mature and diplomatic in character.

➢ Shall not use any kind of drugs (Kat, Cigarette & ETC)
